Research

Christy Timm Fulkerson is a third-year doctoral student and certified speech-language pathologist studying under the supervision of Dr. Hugh Catts. Her research interests include language and literacy disorders in culturally and linguistically diverse students. She is interested in developing better literacy assessment and intervention measures for multilingual students.

Christy is developing a Spanish language screener in collaboration with Learning Ally, under the supervision of Dr. Hugh Catts. This screener is focused on the early identification of kindergarten students with language and reading impairments.

TALES 2.0

Training Assistants in Language Elicitation Strategies (TALES) under the supervision of Dr. Kelly Farquarson and Dr. Lindsay Dennis. This study involves training paraeducators and SLPAs on print referencing strategies during shared reading using a practice-based coaching model, where Christy serves as a coach.

Librarian Professional Development

Professional development training is in collaboration with FCRR’s The Village under the supervision of Dr. Lakeisha Johnson. Christy has helped to create and lead professional development training for librarians within Leon County Public Libraries. For more information on FCRR visit:
